Hudson Valley Community Preservation Act now includes Ulster Co.

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has signed into law a measure adding Ulster County to the 2007 Hudson Valley Community Preservation Act. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Jennifer Metzger and Assemblymember Kevin Cahill, both Democrats. As a result, Ulster County communities will now be allowed to raise funds for preserving open space, unique ecological areas, agricultural lands, and historic sites. The county’s towns and villages now have the same option provided to municipalities in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties, to establish a Community Preservation Fund through a real estate transfer tax.
