New Yorkers like the job Cuomo is doing

Nick Reisman is reporting for State of Politics 60 percent of New Yorkers approve of the job Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is doing, according to a Marist College poll released last week. The job performance approval score is the highest Cuomo has received since taking office in 2011 and represents a sharp increase from a 38 percent approval rating in March 2019. Twenty-nine percent of respondents believe Cuomo is doing an excellent job, while 31 percent say he is doing a good job. Regionally he is most popular in New York City, where 67 percent of voters approve of the job he is doing; 55 percent of upstate voters polled say he is doing a good or excellent job. In the same poll, half of those surveyed say it is a bad idea to fully reopen public schools for in-classroom instruction, while 40 percent support the idea. Ten percent remain unsure.
