Earlier Sunday alcohol sales allowed

Matthew Hamilton reports in Capitol Confidential that on Sept. 7 while legislators held hearings about the state's water quality issues, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill making it safe to drink alcohol on Sunday mornings in New York state. Cuomo signed the brunch bill, amending the state’s alcoholic beverage control laws to allow restaurants and bars to serve alcohol at 10 a.m. on Sundays. Currently, alcohol sales are curtailed until noon. The state’s alcohol laws now also allow wine sales in growlers, and let liquor stores sell gift wrapping and gift bags.
