Cuomo signs law regulating telemarketers

Everyone gets calls from telemarketers. Sign up for the "No Call List" and the calls keep coming. Nick Reisman reports at New York State of Politics that Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a new regulation Dec. 18 that he says will stop unwanted calls from telemarketers. Now telemarketers in New York who knowingly make calls during declared states of emergency will be banned from work in New York. “On a good day telemarketer calls are a nuisance – during times of emergency they can impede residents’ ability to get the information they need to stay safe,” Cuomo said. “By signing this measure into law, we will help ensure New Yorkers receive potentially life-saving notifications in real time, creating a safer Empire State for all.” Read more about this story at New York State of Politics.
