Acra, NY—Wave Farm announced today seven grantees for the Fall 2023 round of the MAAF Forward Fund for Organizations, a regrant program with the New York State Council on the Arts. MAAF Forward Fund grantees: Center for the Holographic Arts, Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI), Film Forum, Flux Factory, KAJE, Maysles Documentary Center, and Participant Inc.

The Media Arts Assistance Fund (MAAF) supports electronic media and film organizations, as well as individual artists, in all regions of New York State. For organizations, MAAF Forward Fund provides funds to support technical strategies for online development as well as to hire outside consultants to support organizational and professional development. MAAF Forward Fund prioritizes organizations that have missions specific to the media arts, dedicate the majority of their programming to technology as an art form. Multi-disciplinary organizations are considered on a case-by-case basis. All applicants must be current NYSCA grantees. Organizations are eligible to receive a maximum of $2,500. The biannual application deadlines are May 1 and October 1.

GRANTEES AND PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS

Center for the Holographic Arts (HoloCenter) (Ulster County) - Strategic Planning Assistance

HoloCenter will use MAAF funding to work with two consultants who will support the organization’s research and planning efforts following their recent move to Kingston, New York. The consultants will research and address development opportunities for the organization.

Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) (New York County) - MARC Records Consultancy

EAI will use MAAF funding to hire a consultant in support of a long-term project to generate Machine Readable Cataloguing (MARC) records for titles in their Educational Streaming Service. This project aims to improve the searchability and visibility of EAI’s artists and titles in the library databases of schools.

Film Forum (New York County) - Capacity Interactive Boot Camp 2023

Film Forum will use MAAF funding to support the attendance of two staff members at the annual boot camp hosted by digital marketing and consulting firm Capacity Initiative. Film Forum aims to support their staff’s knowledge of digital marketing tools and resources.

Flux Factory (Queens County) - Consolidation of administrative subscriptions to Airtable

Flux Factory will use MAAF funding to work with a consultant to consolidate a variety of their organization’s online administrative tools into Airtable. Flux Factory aims to create higher-quality databases, a mother administrative workflow for staff, and a sustainably lower subscription rate overall.

KAJE (Kings County) - Board Development Consultancy

Having recently obtained independent 501(c)3 status, KAJE will use MAAF funding to support a session with a development consultant. KAJE aims to map a sustainability plan for the organization and to support their board of directors.

Maysles Documentary Center (New York County) - Support for Communications Consultant

Maysles Documentary Center will use MAAF funding to hire a marketing and communications consultant to aid the organization in strategy pertaining to web development, social media, promotion, and public relations. Maysles Documentary Center aims to establish a more direct line between their communications and fundraising arms, and support audience development.

Participant Inc. (New York County) - Participant After Dark Technology Improvements

MAAF funding will support the acquisition of supplies for the documentation and recording of Participant After Dark, a virtual performance, screening, and event space. Participant Inc. aims to increase the sophistication of this online space by securing new technology that will support higher-quality imagery.
