Court blocks ban on flavored vaping products

Nick Reisman reports at New York State of Politics that on Oct. 3 a New York appellate court blocked New York’s ban on flavored vaping products for e-cigarettes. The ban would have gone into effect Oct. 4, but now the state can't stop retailers from selling flavored e-cigarette products until a broader injunction motion is decided at the trial level. “The New York State Legislature, instead of enacting a flavor ban, already has decided to address concerns about youth vaping by raising the minimum age for vapor products from 18 to 21 and imposing a major tax increase,” said Tony Abboud, the Executive Director of the Vapor Technology Association, the group that, at least for now, won in court. Last month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the ban of flavored tobacco used in vaping products after several illnesses were linked to vaping. Read more about this story at New York State of Politics.
