David Lombardo is reporting for the Times Union a new Siena Research Institute poll found that former Vice President Joe Biden is the preferred presidential candidate of New York Democrats. The survey asked Democrats to provide the name of the person they wanted to run against President Donald J. Trump in 2020. Biden was named by 22 percent of the respondents, followed by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, at 17 percent, and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders with 15 percent. "Although Biden, Warren and Sanders are leading the pack among New York Democrats, more than one-third of those Democrats ... are still undecided," Siena Research Institute spokesman Steve Greenberg said in a statement. It was the first primary poll of Democrats statewide conducted by Siena Research Institute. The state's presidential primary is scheduled for April 28. The poll was conducted between September 8 and 12. Read the full story in the Times Union.
