How to keep stink bugs out

Oct 20, 2017 11:01 am
Bill Cary reports in The Indianapolis Star that there is not much area residents can do about the current infestation of stink bugs in the Hudson Valley. Cornell University entomologist Peter Jentsch says a simple, nontoxic brew of soapy water (1 percent to 2 percent soap to water) in a household spray bottle. "That will probably work as well as anything." Otherwise, tighten up any entry points in your home to keep the pests out. Make sure windows, doors, siding, utility pipes, behind chimneys, and and other areas are sealed with silicone or silicone-latex caulk. "You have to think like an insect," Jentsch says.
