Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail Greene County has been notified it will not receive Individual Assistance funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for damage resulting from Hurricane Sandy. A letter from the agency dated Jan. 28 stated the damage sustained to the dwellings in Greene County was not of the severity and magnitude to warrant inclusion under the program. The county did qualify for approximately $215,000 in Public Assistance funding, which administrators are now in the process of distributing to the appropriate county, town and village entities, according Greene County Emergency Services Director John Farrell. The claims denied were submitted for properties located in low-lying areas in Catskill, Athens and Coxsackie, the hardest hit by the tidal surge during the October storm. The county has 30 days to appeal the decision. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
