Friedman resigned October 31. Mizan was appointed at a special meeting of the council, Tue., Nov. 14. He was elected, unopposed, to the 3rd Ward seat November 7, and will begin his own two-year term January 1. Mizan said Wednesday he will be ready to serve at the council's next meeting on Nov. 21. This is the first time Mizan has held elected office in the United States. He has been a resident of Hudson since he emigrated from Bangladesh in 2000. “I am a very straightforward person,” Mizan said. “If I see something that needs to be changed I will discuss it. But we have to look at all those things.” Mizan said he decided to run for office because he wanted to “help his community.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
