Aug 20, 2021

In the second hour of the broadcast, host Tom Roe will get a COVID-19 update from Jack Mabb, Columbia County's Director of Public Health. Mabb is expected to talk about the local impact of the Delta variant, ongoing preparations for the new school year, booster shots, and more. In the first hour, Prof. Bob Howarth of Cornell, a member of NYS Climate Action Council, has co-authored a study with Stanford Professor Mark Jacobson on the climate impact of "blue hydrogen" which utilizes carbon capture technology to reduce emissions. Yet due to the potent impact of methane and natural gas, the negative climate footprint is quite high. He talks ith Mark Dunlea from WOOC. Also, the Green New Deal Network organized rallies across NY and nationally on August 19 at Congressional offices in support of SealTheDeal, including at Rep. Antonio Delgado's office in Kingston. The groups support the passage of the $3.5 trillion social and climate justice stimulus recently approved by the US Senate. Mark Dunlea talks with Xaver Kandler of NY Renews.
