Friedman vacates council seat, Dem caucus picks Mizan
Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Hudson Third Ward Alderman John Friedman has resigned, and Common Council Democrats have chosen Shershah Mizan to serve out the remaining two months of his term. The Democratic caucus that chose Mizan was informal and there was no official vote, Common Council Majority Leader Tiffany Garriga said Mon., Nov. 6. The full Council will vote November 13 on the appointment. Purcell writes that Friedman's resignation occurred "recently," but said it was "unclear" when that decision to step down was announced. Friedman served as a city alderman for three, two-year terms. He was not seeking re-election this time around. In September, he lost his bid for Hudson Third Ward Supervisor in the Democratic primary. Mizan and Calvin Lewis are running unopposed in the election Tuesday, for the two Third Ward seats on the Common Council. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
