Aug 15, 2019 3:15 pm
The Claverack Free Library August 14, issued a request for proposals to lease or purchase the building it has called home since the 1930s. The library is expected to relocate October 26, to its new facility at 629 State Route 23B in the hamlet of Claverack. The building the library is vacating was designed by local architect Lucius Moore. It has two main rooms, totaling just under 1,400 square feet. The main reading room has a Palladian window, fireplace, built-in shelves, and barrel ceiling; an addition contains a small lavatory and a stairway to the basement. The building sits on a half-acre of land and includes up to six parking spaces. According to the RFP, the library's goal "...is to find someone who loves libraries and is willing to share the lawn with us for our twice-yearly book sales and occasional programs, usually for children and in the summer months, mostly on weekends." Anyone interested is encouraged to contact the library for more information, a tour or a meeting with the Original Property Committee by emailing info [at] ClaverackFreeLibrary [dot] org. The deadline for proposals is September 15.
