CH Energy wants fiscal data shielded from public

Jul 12, 2013 6:16 am
William J. Kemble reports in the Daily Freeman CH Energy Group is asking the state Public Service Commission to keep financial data about the company under wraps, raising red flags among opponents of the utility’s recent takeover by Fortis Inc. The attorney for CH Energy sent the commission a letter last week that claimed disclosure of the financial report would put Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.'s parent company at a competitive disadvantage. The state commission approved the $1.5 million acquisition of CH Energy by Canada-based Fortis, last month. A spokesperson for Citizens for Local Power, which opposed the Fortis-CH Energy deal, said the commission should reject the company's request to withhold the data from the public. CH Energy serves about 300,000 customers in eight counties in the Hudson Valley. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
