They are still counting ballots in Ulster County
Jan 06, 2020 11:15 pm
Patricia R. Doxsey reports in the Daily Freeman that while most newly elected officials are already at work since the new year began, Democrat David Clegg and Republican Michael J. Kavanagh might have to wait another week to find out who is the Ulster County District Attorney. "There’s a chance for the end of this week; definitely by next week we’ll be finished," Republican Commissioner of Elections Thomas Turco said Jan. 6 about when the counting will be done. Before the recount, Clegg led Kavanagh by 79 votes out of the 53,623. Turco said the recount has found one irregularity that could cost Clegg a single vote, while the two candidates have challenged about 30 ballots. Kavanagh is currently serving as acting district attorney, as he was chief assistant to the retiring Holley Carnright. Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
