Greene Co. reducing its in-person workforce

Dec 08, 2020 6:00 am
Melanie Lekocevic is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media reductions in the in-person workforce and other operational changes went into effect December 7, at all Greene County office buildings due to the surge in coronavirus infections. The in-person workforce has been reduced by about 50 percent on a rotating basis, with the remaining employees working from home, Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden said late last week. Public access to the buildings has also changed; visitors are advised to call ahead before traveling to the building, according to a statement from the county. The changes will remain in effect until at least the end of the year or until further notice. Greene County Legislature Chairman Patrick Linger said, “With positive cases on the rise, and expected to increase more during the holiday season, we are taking the steps necessary to protect our employees and the public. Limiting the number of employees and visitors within county office buildings is a necessary, preventative action,” he said. “The Greene County Public Health Department has observed that the virus is now more widespread within the county workforce, school systems and the general public,” according to the statement. All employees and visitors entering county buildings are required to wear face masks. The Department of Motor Vehicles office is open to the public by appointment only, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The Greene County Clerk’s Office offers access to the records room by appointment only by calling 518-719-3254. The Department of Social Services, Board of Elections and the Department of Veterans Services remain open to the public. For vaccinations and other services at Greene County Public Health, call 518-719-3600 for an appointment. To learn more go to HudsonValley360 [dot] come.
