Hudson looks for extension on building purchase

John Mason is reporting in the Register Star Hudson Common Council is unlikely to meet the deadline for a decision on moving forward with the purchase of a site for the city’s police station and courthouse. Now a letter from seller Bruce Finn’s attorney states the city would have to pay $5,500 a month if it needs more time to decide. The city agreed May 21 to put down a $30,000 escrow payment for the parcel located at 701 Union St., formerly the Finnish Line Fitness Club. The parties agreed the city would have 90 days to conduct an environmental review, other inspections and title search, and obtain financing. The city's recent request for an extension was rejected, with the owner advising the city would be charged $5,500 a month for each month of delay. The 90-day period ends Aug. 29.
