Cuomo announces more help for those in danger of deportation

Mallory Moench is reporting for the Times Union New York is expanding its legal defense project for immigrants. The first-in-the-nation program will now include social and health care services for families and rapid response to raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The expansion was announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Dec. 20. "These expanded services will help immigrants who are unfairly targeted by ICE get the legal assistance they need and provide health care services to undocumented children and families who have been neglected by the federal government," Cuomo said. The new Project Golden Door will provide comprehensive family support services at 12 existing sites, including Albany. Read the full story in the Times Union.
