Cuomo nominates new DoT commissioner

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced May 6, new appointments to his administration, including the nomination of a new commissioner of the Department of Transportation. Marie Therese Dominguez has worked in the transportation, water and energy infrastructure, safety, and logistics sectors for more than 20 years, according to the statement released by Cuomo's office. Dominguez served as Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation under President Barack Obama. At PHMSA, Dominguez managed the development and enforcement of safety regulations and oversaw safety operations for the nation's interstate gas and liquid pipelines as well as all hazardous materials shipments. She also previously served at the Department of Defense, U.S. Postal Service and at the Federal Aviation Administration. Dominguez's appointment requires state Senate approval.
