Catskill students plan March 14 walkout

Richard Moody reports in Columbia-Greene Media that students at Catskill High School are organizing a walkout at 10 a.m. March 14 to urge Congress to pass gun control laws after the school shooting in a south Florida last week. Students for Change at Catskill are organizing a local version of the Enough National School Walkout. The protest will last 17 minutes, after 17 students and adults were killed Feb. 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. “We want to tell Congress enough is enough,” said Joanna VanSlyke, who is organizing the Catskill walkout. “I should not be scared to go to school.... I did email my principal, but I am waiting for permission from the superintendent.... But we will do it without his permission.
