May 14, 2019 8:45 am
The Daily Freeman is reporting Kingston Mayor Steve Noble and the city’s Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs will host "Still Listening in Kingston: A Concert for Pauline," May 19. The event will feature performances from 25 local and international musicians. It coincides with an art exhibition in the Kingston City Hall gallery space entitled, "Pauline Oliveros: Still Listening in Kingston." The work included in the exhibition, which will be on display until July 1, was inspired by Oliveros' legacy and consists of a collection of text scores curated by IONE and Lisa B. Kelley. The concert this weekend will bring some of the text scores from the exhibition to life, along with other performances from Oliveros' friends and colleagues. Oliveros was a composer, performer and humanitarian. She founded the Deep Listening Institute in Kingston and was a creative leader in the community. Oliveros died in 2016. A Concert for Pauline will be held 3 p.m., Sun., May 19, at Kingston City Hall, 420 Broadway. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
