Metro-North trains adding cameras

The Daily Freeman reports that you are being watched on Metro-North commuter trains, as the railroad is testing cameras on some Hudson and Harlen line trains. Theses cameras do not record audio in the passenger areas, but do record video there, as well as in the engineer’s control area, and track and wayside areas, and passenger areas. Federal officials recommended the surveillance after the December 2013 Metro-North derailment in the Spuyten Duyvil section of the Bronx killed four people and injured 70 others.
