Beth McGiffert is reporting at the Greenport online Townhub, acknowledging numerous reports of very dirty water from town residents. As of October 5, crews were out looking for a water break, she said, and because the town was aware of the problem there was no need for residents to call. The office is closed October 8, due to the Columbus Day holiday. "Crews will be working diligently to find and correct the issue over the weekend," she wrote. According to one post on the town's Facebook page, there have been no signs of crews working on the problem on Becraft Avenue and surrounding area. "We still have brown water," she wrote.
