Sep 12, 2013 4:01 pm
The Daily Mail is reporting on its Facebook page:
More than 1,000 people in Cairo and Durham are without electricity due to downed power lines on Route 145 about a quarter-mile south of the Cairo-Durham Middle School/High School. The Cairo Police Department reports that the cause is unknown, though a resident reported hearing an explosion. A small brush fire associated with the downed lines was doused by rain. The Cairo Police Department and Cairo Fire Company are on the scene, awaiting Central Hudson. According to Central Hudson's Web site, power is expected to be restored by 5:30 this evening.

The Cairo-Durham school district has advised parents the power outage at school will result in transportation delays this afternoon.
