MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting Dutchess Community College President Pamela Edington has announced her retirement, effective July 31. Edington has held the post since 2014. During her tenure she established a site at the Family Partnership Center in the city of Poughkeepsie, developed programs of study to meet emerging workforce needs in the region and introduced service learning to the college. Edington was also responsible for relocating the college's south campus from Wappinger to the former Duchess Mall in Fishkill as well as the development of an airframe maintenance technician program to be located at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport. Both initiatives are scheduled to be completed later this year. “Our county and our college have benefited greatly from Dr. Edington’s leadership,” said Michael Francis Dupree, chairman of the board of trustees. Edington was the fifth president of the college and she was the first woman to hold the position. Edington previously served nine years as dean of academic affairs, then provost, of Norwalk Community College in Connecticut. Read the full story at MidHudsonNews [dot] com.
