Molinaro bucks at Cuomo, Senate GOP

May 31, 2018 2:02 pm
Chris Bragg reports in the Albany Times Union that Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said May 30 he wants a state law banning campaign contribution to state political candidates from individuals or businesses that have or may be pursuing state government contracts. Molinaro is using the issue to link his opponent, incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to the corruption trial of five men accused of rigging bids in connection with the "Buffalo Billion" and other state-funded development initiatives. Molinaro also veered away from Republicans on May 30, saying that he wants to close the so-called "LLC loophole" in state election law, which allows wealthy individuals to donate unlimited sums to state political candidates using untraceable limited liability companies. The Republican-led state senate in Albany has been blocking that legislation. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
