Work begins on trail

Amanda Purcell reports for Columbia-Greene Media that work has begin on the biking and walking trail along 23 miles from the Wassaic Train Station in Amenia to the Taconic State Park in Copake Falls. This Harlem Valley Rail Trail section will be completed next October. The Federal government will pay $9.3 million of the $14.7 million project. “Dutchess County will pay the local share of work within Dutchess County and Columbia County and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation have agreed to fund the local share of the Columbia County portion of the project,” according to a statement from the Hudson Valley Rail Trail.
