Delgado opens Kingston office

Jan 14, 2019 12:22 am
Brian Hubert reports for The Daily Freeman that Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-Rhinebeck) opened his first district office in Kingston Jan. 12. The storefront at 256 Clinton Ave. was packed with area residents, campaign volunteers, and local officials, and at least one movie star. "Kingston is special in a lot of ways," said Delgado, mentioning he proposed to his wife, Lacey Schwartz, in Kingston. "This place for us is home on a lot of levels," Delgado said. Delgado has not announced where other offices will be opened or when. Rep. John Faso, his predecessor, had Kinderhook and Delhi offices in addition to one in Kingston. "If you want to figure out how you can empower yourself, if you're a farmer, and you're dealing with the trade policies of the administration, and you want to get that subsidy, and get some relief to get through that, you can come in here," Delgado said. "If you're looking for help, Social Security, and you want to figure how to get that, we're here to serve you." The day before, Delgado was in Columbia County, holding a ceremonial swearing-in at the Hudson Opera House. On Jan. 11, Delgado introduced his first bill as a Member of Congress, a measure that would provide the surviving spouse of a service-disabled veteran with federal contracting preference as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Small Business Administration.
