TRANSMISSION ART ARCHIVE
Deluge
2012

Deluge is a sound and light installation that depicts the constant hum of anthropogenic electromagnetic radiation around us as a showering rain of light. A cloud of lights is created from numerous strands suspended from the ceiling. Each strand contains varying numbers of lights at varying lengths and is a visual representation of the sounds emanating softly from one of the many speakers located above. The sounds produced by the piece are sourced from real-time transmissions selected from the broad electromagnetic spectrum we use for radio communications: AM, FM, Short Wave, and Wireless frequencies.
