Richmor CEO goes public on airport expansion

Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star the public heard from two members of the Richmor Aviation management team during a public meeting of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors Airport Committee, held in Hudson, Wed., Nov. 14. Richmor CEO Mahlon Richards and Sharyl Richards Marks, Vice President of marketing and charter sales defended the company’s record. They also addressed allegations that the proposed airport expansion was more about improving Richmor's bottom line than safety. Richards said, “We’re in favor of the safety zone because we think it’s important.” Richards said at its current length the airport is unsafe. The public also heard from committee chair Supervisor Art Bassin. Bassin said the FAA is encouraging small airports countrywide to take these similar steps to expand for safety reasons.
