Central Hudson ends its radio show

Central Hudson is ending its 56-year-old radio informercial "Almanac," the company announced April 7. Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. first aired "Almanac" Oct. 5, 1959, as a weather show on six radio stations in the Hudson Valley. According to the Poughkeepsie-based utility, the five-minute program currently airs on 20 AM and FM stations including WKZE (98.1-FM), WKNY (1490-AM), and WBPM (92.9-FM), with facts and stories about the natural world, weather, wildlife, astronomy, and earth sciences.
