Town of Hunter celebrates its bicentennial

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail the town of Hunter celebrated 200 years of incorporation Sat., Aug. 31, with a long parade of civic, community, police and fire departments, business and youth groups. The town of Hunter, which contains the villages of Hunter and Tannersville as well as the hamlets of Lanesville, Elka Park, Platte Clove, Edgewood and Haines Falls, was formed on Jan. 27, 1813. Hundreds lined the streets and packed the restaurants for Saturday’s parade. U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, State Assemblyman Pete Lopez and State Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk (KAT-chik) all presented the town with citations. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
