State denies Columbia Co.'s request to keep summer camps closed

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting the state department of health has denied the executive order Columbia County sought last month requesting that summer camps remain closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, county Board of Supervisor Chairman Matt Murrell said. Murrell said despite the state’s decision, the county health department and county leaders stand behind their recommendation that summer camps not operate until further notice. “The thinking at this time is that summer camps with children and counselors cannot properly maintain the social distancing necessary to keep everyone safe,” Murrell said. “With that in mind, we sincerely hope that summer camps remain closed until such time as health officials deem it safe.” Read the full story at MidHudsonNews [dot] com.
