Cairo's new library opens

Photos by Tom Roe.[/caption]WGXC 90.7-FM broadcast the ribbon cutting of the new Cairo Library Sat., June 30 at 10 a.m. New York State Representative Pete Lopez (R-Schoharie), Rep. Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook), Greene County Legislator Harry Lennon (D-Cairo), Cairo Town Supervisor Ted Banta (D-Cairo), and others spoke at the grand opening of the new library, with music from John Gallagher on bagpipes before at 9:30 a.m. and Greg Stewart on acoustic guitar after the ceremony. The new Cairo Library is directly behind the old library, which was in Town Hall on Main St. A bond issued narrowly passed Apr. 24, 2010 to finance the library project.
