Upper Hudson Valley COVID outbreak continues to grow

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow in the upper Hudson Valley. Columbia County reported three new coronavirus cases Oct. 26, and the 39th death since the pandemic began. Ichadbod Crane moved to all remote learning Oct. 26 after a student in the primary school tested positive for COVID-19. The class the student is in will quarantine for two weeks, while the schools reopen Oct. 27. Greene County reports they currently have 55 positive cases, with recent outbreaks in Greenville and Catskill schools, and in the Greene County Office Building in Catskill where early voting is taking place all this week. Also announced on Oct. 26, Saratoga County reported its first COVID-19 deaths in over four months. In Delaware County, another death from COVID-19 was reported Oct. 26, the ninth fatality among 157 positive cases there. Delaware County currently has 15 known active cases, with four patients hospitalized. Albany County reported 24 new COVID-19 cases Oct. 26, with 151 active cases total and 1,124 quarantined. Rensselaer County said Oct. 26 that 22 employees and 18 residents of Van Rensselaer Manor have contracted coronavirus. Ulster County reported 53 new cases over weekend, with a positive test rate of 5.3 percent.
