Hudson Housing Authority looking to build more housing downtown

Dec 22, 2017 7:30 am

Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Housing Authority is currently working on a plan to build a 40-unit mixed-use and mixed-income affordable housing facility on a half-acre parcel on North 2nd Street in Hudson. The new building would be located across the street from Bliss Towers, which the authority owns and operates. The intention is to create affordable housing for residents who meet the 30 percent area median income up to 130 percent of the area median income, Hudson Housing Authority Executive Director Timothy Mattice said. That would include seniors, families on fixed incomes, families working low-paying jobs or professionals in entry-level positions, Mattice said. The first floor of the building could be adapted for mixed-use, which could mean a small grocery store, retail space or public service agency, he said. The authority is also looking to discuss the future of Bliss Towers with the residents of the 117-unit building and the community at large in early 2018. Mattice denied there was a plan to “tear down” Bliss Towers. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
