FBI investigating Cuomo hiring

Dec 09, 2017 12:11 am
Chris Bragg reports in the Albany Times Union that the Federal Bureau of Invesitagtion is looking into Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and his office's hiring practices. "The FBI is investigating the Cuomo administration's practice of hiring employees to work in the governor's office, while actually paying them through various state agencies and public authorities, the Times Union has learned," Bragg writes. The FBI did not confirm the investigation, and the Times Union does not speculate on what laws could have been broken. Last year the newspaper reported that more than 40 percent of the staff in Cuomo's Executive Chamber was paid by public authorities or agencies. Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi said that the administration received a "document subpoena" recently and that it had "cooperated, providing necessary documents and personnel files."
