Unemployment rate ticks up locally

The Daily Freeman reports that unemployment rates in throughout much of the Mid-Hudson Valley and Catskills were higher in June 2017 than a year earlier. The state Department of Labor reported July 25 that Greene County's rate went up to 4.6 percent from 4.4 percent a year earlier. Columbia County went from 3.4 in 2016 to 3.5 this year. Delaware County stayed at 5.3 percent, Ulster County went from 4.3 to 4.4 percent, and Dutchess County went from 4.2 percent last year to 4.4 this June. Statewide, the unemployment rate fell from 4.7 percent last year to 4.5 percent in June. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
