Hudson Common Council adopts $11.9M 2020 budget

Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Common Council approved the city's 2020 budget in a unanimous vote November 19. The spending plan calls for $11.9 million in spending, a 2.28 percent increase over last year. Next year’s budget falls under the maximum tax cap increase allowed by the state at 3.8 percent, Mayor Rick Rector said. The city continues to draw from its fund balance, but those funds are not being replenished at the same rate they are being encumbered, city officials said. The budget as approved is dependent on revenue increases in several areas, including the lodging tax, which is expected to raise 21.4 percent more in 2020, and sales tax is projected to increase by 11.8 percent.
