Former RN, co-conspirator in opioid distribution scheme sentenced

Mar 12, 2020 12:45 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting a former registered nurse and the co-conspirator in a plan to distribute opioids in Greene County was sentenced March 11 to 30 months in federal prison and three years of post-release supervision. Sarah Brown, 42, of Acra, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino in U.S. Northern District Court in Albany. Brown admitted that she and Dr. Myra Mabry, 50, of Catskill, acquired prescriptions for oxycodone, morphine and hydromorphone by pretending to be Mabry’s patients. They did so, knowing that health care benefit programs would pay the cost of the drugs. Brown also admitted to lying to a federal grand jury. Mabry pleaded guilty in August 2019, to conspiring to distribute controlled substances, health care fraud, aggravated identity theft and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to 54 months in prison earlier this month. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
