As part of the 2016 Spring/Summer Pledge Drive, WGXC presents a radio performance of POET RAY’D YO programmer Chris Funkhouser and Cecil Taylor’s “improvised is how the voice is used.” The piece, first performed at the Whitney Museum’s Open Plan: Cecil Taylor exhibition in April (http://whitney.org/Exhibitions/OpenPlanCecilTaylor), is a sound collage prepared by Funkhouser, which blends Taylor’s poetry with recordings of conversation he recorded with Taylor in 1994.
