The Daily Freeman is reporting employment rose in most Mid-Hudson and Catskills counties during the 12-month period ending April 30, the state Department of Labor reported Thu., May 21. Greene and Columbia counties each gained 100 non-farm jobs during the period, bringing the April 2015 totals to 14,000 in Greene, and more than 21,000 jobs in Columbia. The state did not provide private-sector jobs data for Greene and Columbia counties in the report. The unemployment rate statewide in April was 5.7 percent, unchanged from March.
