Rensselaer Dems pick judge to run for DA

Kenneth C. Crowe II is reporting for the Times Union East Greenbush Town Justice Mary Pat Donnelly has been selected by the Rensselaer County Democrats as their candidate for district attorney. Donnelly will face-off against incumbent DA, Republican Joel Abelove, in November. Abelove is scheduled to go to trial on a felony perjury charge and two misdemeanor charges related to his handling of a grand jury investigation of an April 2016 fatal police shooting in Troy. Donnelly is a graduate of Columbia High School, University at Albany and Albany Law School.  She was first elected town justice in 2012 then re-elected in 2016.  She currently works in the Albany City Court as an attorney. The executive committee will officially endorse Donnelly when it meets April 12. Read the full story in the Times Union.
