Diane Valden is reporting in The Columbia Paper the body of a woman found over the weekend in a wooded area off Old Post Road in Kinderhook has now been identified as Halle P. Schmidt, 21, of Copake. Schmidt was reported missing by family members Sun., Sept. 4. Sheriff David P. Bartlett said in a press release the positive identification came at the conclusion of an autopsy conducted at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany on Sunday. The cause of Schmidt's death has not been determined. The case is still under active criminal investigation.
