This month's Work show again looks into what's entailed in the toil involved in parenting and child care, made an art form by those who mother. Interviews are with journalist, actor and playwright Elisabeth Henry, who left her careers -- and New York City -- to raise two stepchildren and three of her own, and Melissa Lasher, a single mom who works as a professional child care specialist, a school bus monitor, and full-time babysitter in addition to looking after her own three sons. Topics range from society's attitudes towards childraising as work, or its antithesis, the low pay allowed those working in these areas, the pain involved in losing a child, and the glories involved in watching kids grow. Music is by Jay Z, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, Sly & The Family Stone, the late George Jones, Jan Bradley, and 2Pac. The show is hosted and produced by Paul Smart.
