New Dutchess code of ethics, term limits move forward

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting a committee of the Dutchess County Legislature moved a revamped county code of ethics and term limits forward, Mar. 7. Under the revised code, candidates for countywide office will be required to complete a financial disclosure and be required to disclose outside income. The new code would also strengthen the board of ethics powers and duties, and include a clear and concise recusal process. “It makes everything in the daylight,” Legislature Chairman Gregg Pulver said. Under the term-limit plan, legislators would be limited to serve no more than six, two-year terms and the county executive would serve for three, four-year terms, at maximum.
