Columbia County to acquire DSS building
May 10, 2012 9:42 am
Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors voted Wed., May 9, to purchase the building at 25 Railroad Ave. in Hudson, for nearly $1.3 million. The board held five separate votes and approved the purchase, despite concerns over the environmental health of the 20-year-old building. Final approval is contingent upon receipt of an independent analysis of an environmental evaluation of the property, expected to be commissioned by the county's United Public Service Employees Union. The board majority approved the purchase for economic reasons, Mayberg writes. Columbia County currently pays more than $400,000 a year to lease the building. Read the full story in the Register Star.
