Nov 09, 2017 9:00 am

Brian Nearing is reporting in the Times Union skiers started making tracks in Vermont, Wed., Nov. 8, when the Killington ski center in central Vermont allowed selected skiers hit the slopes, with just two of its 155 trails open. In the Green Mountains, the Mount Snow resort will open Sat., Nov. 11, using a recent run of cold nights to make snow with its expanded system of snow guns. New York state-operated resorts at Whiteface and Gore, both in the Adirondacks, and Belleayre in the Catkills, could open on Nov. 24, the Friday after Thanksgiving, if the weather cooperates, a spokesman for the Olympic Regional Development Authority said. In the Berkshires of Massachusetts, the snow guns at Jiminy Peak were turned on Tuesday, the resort's marketing director said. Opening day is tentatively set for Nov. 18, depending on the weather. As the Capital Region braced for an incoming blast of winter temperatures, Windham Mountain has announced it will be making snow Fri., Nov. 10. Hunter Mountain reported some snow activity Tuesday afternoon, with little to no accumulation. No word from either resort on when they will open. Read the full story in the Times Union.
