Cypress Creek to purchase land, create solar farm in Palenville
Carly Miller is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media solar company Cypress Creek Renewables is moving forward with its plans to purchase 60 acres of land at 1180 Bogart Road in Palenville for the construction of a 2-megawatt commercial solar farm. If the project comes to fruition, it would be the first solar farm in the town of Catskill, Planning Board Chairman Joseph Izzo said. Cypress Creek currently has similar proposals under review in Cairo, Greenville and Coxsackie. The company has worked with the planning board for almost a year and a half, Izzo said. “We’re finally down to the final stages,” Izzo said, which include reviewing lot line adjustments, subdivision and special-use permit plans. Cypress Creek's revised proposal, presented at April 10 planning board meeting, included a landscaping plan with a buffer of trees around the farm to shield the view for neighbors. Board members could not review the lot line adjustments at the meeting, however, because the company did not submit the proper plans, Izzo said. No public hearings on the project have been held as yet. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
