ICC proposing $43.9M budget for 2021-22 school year
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Ichabod Crane Board of Education voted April 20, to request district voters ratify a $43.9 million budget for the 2021-22 school year. The board also voted to include a bus purchasing proposition in the amount of $430,333 on the ballot. The proposed spending plan is a $1.5-million increase from the last year. District Business Manager Michael Brennan said the budget will allow the district to maintain current staff and programming, addresses learning loss during the pandemic, and does not include any of the federal stimulus funding. Brennan did say there will be an increase in state aid. Five candidates are competing for three open seats on the school board: Regina Rose, Jared Widjeskog, Resa Dimino, Jennifer Allard, and Anne Schaefer. Incumbent board members John Antalek, Ruth Moore, and Susan Ramos are not running. The annual school budget vote and board elections will be held May 18, in the high school gymnasium.
